Wondering how to buy the best gas pressure washer? There are lots of models on the market, but it can be hard to know what to look for - and how to stay within your budget.
So, I've created this of list of important things to consider when you're trying to decide which gas pressure washer is the right choice for you. I share my expert advice --- to hopefully save you time & money.
If you're thinking about buying a gas pressure washer for your home, you probably already know that they are strong & reliable cleaning work horses that can will last for years.
To accurately compare gas pressure washer models, the first thing you should look for is the PSI (Pounds per Square Inch) of any unit.
PSI is the rating of the power, or force, of the water that the pressure washer pump can produce. A higher PSI has more cleaning power - and you'll clean faster.
Generally speaking, gas pressure washers suited for consumers usually offer PSI ratings of 2,200 to 4,000+.
How do you know which PSI rating is right for you? Just take a minute to think about the outdoor cleaning jobs you'll do with your new washer.
Need to wash your car or RV? Do you want to clean an average sized deck or patio? Do you need to clean brick walls or vinyl siding? Are you planning to use your gas pressure washer about once a month or less? Then a unit with 2,200 PSI to 2,900 PSI is probably the best choice for you.
Do you plan on stripping paint? Or will you clean or strip oversized decks or patios? Do you think you'll use your gas pressure washer at least few times a month? Then a unit with 3,000 PSI to 4,000+ PSI is a better choice for you.
And you'll want to think about the pressure washer engine too. When you start shopping, you'll find that you can buy a cheap gas pressure washer with a no-name or generic engine. Yes, generic engines are a few bucks cheaper. But keep in mind that a brand name engine, like Subaru, Generac, Kohler and Honda, are built to run longer. They're a better value over the long haul. And brand names engines are backed up with better warranty protections, just in case.
And don't forget to look over the pressure washer pump! A gas pressure washer works hard to pressurize the water that comes out of the spray gun. You'll see less expensive units that have no-name or generic pumps. But just like no-name engines, they aren't built well enough to last for years. To buy the best gas pressure washer, I truly recommend a brand name pump like CAT, General, AR and Comet. A brand name pump also offers you a warranty, which can be important, in my experience.
Good luck! If you follow this checklist, you'll be able to pick out the best gas pressure washer for your cleaning projects and your budget!
