Sooner or later you'll need to replace your pressure washer hose. Remember, since it carries powerful, pressurized water from the pump to your spray gun, it will wear down and need to be replaced. So let me share my expert tips to show you what to look for before you buy a new one.
I highly recommend the Apache replacement pressure washer hose on Amazon. I appreciate that this Apache 50ft hose is scuff and mark resistant! I hate leaving nasty marks when I clean.
This Apache replacement hose works perfectly with up to 3,700 PSI.
Remember, your pressure washer hose is not the same as the garden hose that you have hooked up to the intake valve of your unit.
Pressure washer tubing is made of PVC, polyurethane or rubber. And its specifically designed to withstand the constant beating of the intense water flowing through it. Make sure the tubing is marked as "high pressure".
(Never, ever use an extra garden hose as a quick substitute for real high pressure tubing.)
You'll find that the most economical replacement tubes are constructed of PVC and they are perfectly suited for homeowners.
You might notice that the slightly thicker black rubber hoses have a heavier construction, but I have to say that I really don't like the way they can leave black marks on flat surfaces. My thought is this: why spend time cleaning if you're left with nasty looking black marks to remove?
That's why I prefer the new, lighter colored tubing that doesn't leave black marks! They're very flexible and I've seen them in blue, beige, gray and yellow. They cost a few more dollars, but I think they're definitely worth the investment. See my photo above which shows a grey model.
By far, the 1/4" diameter replacement tubing is the most common because this is the size that's used on the original tubes on the most popular electric and gas units designed for homeowners. These are very easy to find.
The larger 3/8" diameter tubing is used on the higher end homeowner & commercial gas units and are built to tolerate higher PSI and a larger gallon per minute water flow.
MY TIP: always, always match your diameter and PSI specs of your unit with the new replacement you're considering. If your unit has a PSI rating of 3500 to 4000, don't buy tubing that only rates up to 2700 PSI!
