3 Key Pressure Washer Ratings You Need to Know Before Buying!
There are THREE key pressure washer ratings that you need to keep in mind while you're selecting
a pressure washer. These ratings will greatly help you compare models - to choose the one that's right for YOU!
So here's a handy primer of the these three ratings, for your review:
PSI, or POUNDS PER SQUARE INCH, is a number used to define the force of the water that the pressure
washer is able to produce. The higher the PSI, the more cleaning power.
For example, your regular garden hose produces a PSI of about 40. But pressure washers can produce PSI's of 1,500 to
4,000+. (For the typical homeowner/DIY'er use, I would recommend purchasing a pressure washer with a minimum of
2,250 PSI.)
GPM, or GALLONS PER MINUTE, is the rate of the water flow. Or, how much water a pressure washer uses within a minute of
running time. Combined with the PSI rating, the GPM is an important indicator of the cleaning
effectiveness of a pressure washer.
CPU, or CLEANING POWER UNIT, defines a pressure washer’s total cleaning power. CPU is calculated by multiplying the PSI
by the GPM. A higher the CPU number indicated that the pressure washer will clean better, faster and more efficiently than
models with a lower CPU.
These three key ratings will greatly help you compare,
and choose your new pressure washer.
